ASTM E4 - Standard Practices for Force Verification of Testing Machines
ASTM E4 describes force verification procedures for tensile or compressive forces (or both) for static or quasi-static testing machines. The testing machine consists of a load frame, a force-sensing device, a force display or readout, a handle or fixture, and any other components used for routine testing procedures. If the indicated force is within the specified allowable deviation of the actual force, the force reading of this type of testing machine provides accurate load results and can be verified using standard weights, standard weights, and isometric scales or elastic calibration devices.
