Automating Evaporation Residue Testing for Silica Slurry Analysis
Customer Challenge
A leading chemical manufacturer was looking for a more efficient solution for evaporation residue testing of silica slurry aqueous solutions.
The laboratory had established testing procedures and specific sample requirements. During the evaluation of a new instrument, the team also considered how the system could fit into its existing laboratory workflow.
Most importantly, the customer evaluated the system using their own samples and established testing conditions.
The Solution
The customer evaluated the Labthink C840 Series, with both the C840M and C840Hconsidered for the application.
Silica slurry aqueous solution samples were used for the application evaluation.
Two sample concentrations were tested:
- 30 wt% silica slurry aqueous solution
- 20 wt% silica slurry aqueous solution
The testing covered different sample amounts and multiple replicates, with heating at 105°C for 3 hours.
Using the customer’s actual samples and testing conditions provided a practical evaluation of theC840 under real application requirements.
The Result
By evaluating the C840Hwith real customer samples and established testing conditions, the customer gained a direct understanding of how automated gravimetric analysis could be applied to their evaporation residue testing process.
The C840 integrates evaporation, heating, weighing, and residue determination into an automated workflow, reducing the need for repeated manual operations.
For laboratories performing routine evaporation residue testing, this approach provides an alternative to conventional manual gravimetric procedures and supports a more efficient and standardized testing workflow.
